do people even listen to albums all the way through anymore? just two keepers for the year, where every songs was as good as the one before or after it.
really, really secret best song of the year: paper planes-mia
song that crept on my ipod that shouldn’t have: the downeaster alexa-billy joel
band other than the killers that should be bludgeoned: plain white tees (guess what delilah, if your boyfriend gets famous he’ll dump you, otherwise you’ll be supporting him for the rest of your life. that’s just the way it goes.)
song that should never be played in a club/bar again: young folks-peter,bjorn, and john
song you are guaranteed to hear at beatrice inn: the skin of my yellow country teeth, cyhsy
most annoying band revival thanks to a movie: joy division (life’s really not so bad and love doesn’t tear people apart, stupidity does)
most annoying music related person of the year: mark ronson – all he is doing is attaching his name and a drum beat to already great songs. i am thinking about remixing books for 2008 and calling them my own. imagine infinite jest…in ebonics!
best concert of the year (musically): arcade fire at the uptown church/morrissey at hammerstein ballroom (the sunday night show)/the walkmen at mercury lounge after consuming 12 red bull and vodkas.
best concert of the year (closeness to stage): the walkmen at avalon five feet from the stage/morrissey in washington dc, also five feet from the stage.
best band that i was too stubborn to listen to before 2007: arcade fire (lesson learned)
best song in a movie and tv show that nobody knew what it was called: stranglehold-ted nugent (yeah he’s an enormous idiot and i hope he shoots himself, but still a great song)
most anticipated release for 2008: the walkmen/morrissey
most anticipated tour of 2008: radiohead
